EEE! Whats that?

It has been some time. Last paper's Physics. Monday. Anyway, managed to dig out some time to post! Hope you people out there did not miss us!

EEE! What's that?
Made by ASUS, the EeePC focuses on 3 aspects
Easy to Learn
Easy to Work
Easy to Play

I would say that the EeePC is just like every common laptop, but just smaller and compact. Sleek and stylish design. Just right for people who needs a laptop everywhere they need as it is lightweight too!

Pros
Fully Shock resistance. Drop from the 4th floor down to the first, it wouldn't be a problem!

Designed to work power-efficiently and longer operating time.

Half the size of normal notebooks, and weigh less than 1kg.

Rapid start-up time.

Build in with Wireless Technology for you to connect to wireless hotspots

Specially designed, user friendly and intuitive user interface.

Cons
2GB-8GB Solid State Drive for past models
The newest Eee PC 1000 provides up to 40GB, but still less compared to normal notebooks.

Your fingers may be larger than those buttons on the keyboards.

Your face could be bigger than the screen.

Of course, with something smaller, you pay less. If I am not wrong, I saw one sold at challenger at IMM for $699 IF I am not wrong

Common tests!

Sorry to say that, but Tech You On will temporarily stop reviews for one whole week for the preparation of our common tests. We initially thought that we can still stick to a review every 2 days, but the topic tested in the common tests are too heavy to handle. We hope that you understand. We will resume functions on 16th August 2008 with even better reviews.

Thank You

Digital Photo Frame

Ever heard what a Digital Photo Frame is?

A Digital Phone Frame is basically a picture that displays digital photo directly from the screen that it has. You will not need to print your photos again and showing them to your friends and family would be a breeze.

There are many different kinds of Digital Photo Frames. Some which is compatible with mp3 audio files allows you to play audio from the photo frame too. To put it in simpler terms, a Digital Photo Frame is just a small TV set which is able to read the various picture file formats or perhaps audio.

Some includes a rechargeable battery in it, so you can take this photo frame around as you want to.

Certain frames can also load pictures over the Internet from RSS feeds, photo sharing sites such as Flickr, Picasa and from e-mail. Such networked models usually support wireless connections.

Happy National Day!

Well, today lets get technology aside. Tomorrow Singapore's going to celebrate our 43rd year of independence. We have gone a long way and lets work forward to the future!

Here to share with you a song done by the guys from Mr Brown show. Hilarious, insightful and heartfelt. Enjoy!

I do respect Mr Brown and his colleagues. They give me the notion of " from zero to hero". Mr. Brown was just a normal blogger, perhaps just like us. Soon he tried podcasting, and eventually came into fame with that. Tech You On would like to take this path like Mr. Brown and rise in fame.

Software Review:PowerISO

PowerISO is a powerful CD/DVD image file processing tool, which allows you to open, extract, create, edit, compress, encrypt, split and convert ISO files, and mount these files with internal virtual drive. It can process almost all CD-ROM image files including ISO and BIN.

Main Features:

  • Support almost all CD/DVD-ROM image file formats(ISO, BIN, NRG, CDI, DAA and so on).
    Note:
DAA(Direct-Access-Archive) is an advanced format for image file, which supports some advanced features, such as compression, password protection, and splitting to multiple volumes. It can be handled directly just like other formats, such as ISO, BIN, ...

  • Open and extract ISO File.

  • Create ISO file from hard disk files or CD/DVD-ROM.

  • Edit an existing ISO file directly.

  • Windows98/Me, Windows2000/XP/2003/Vista operating system or above.
Note: The internal virtual drive needs Windows2000/XP/2003/Vista or above.

  • Intel Pentium 166MHz or above.

  • 64MB memory.

  • At least 10MB hard disk space.

* This information is copied from the site www.poweriso.com

I personally like PowerISO because it is easy to use, and it allows me to create cd/dvd image files so quickly and effectively. For people who do not understand what cd/dvd images are, and are keen to find out, PowerISO is the product that they should try. It allows cd/dvd images to be created in so many different formats and system requirements are rather low. Cheap and efficient is what I would tell you about this software.

What is so bad about it? Its not free but is still quite cheap, selling at US$29.95

How to get HD5?

The Beijing Olympics' just around the corner. With 2 more days to go, wouldn't you want to catch all the action in full HD? Mediacorp's HD 5's airing the olympic games in FULL HD! Don't miss out the action. Get HD 5 today!

How to get HD5?
HD5 is broadcasted over the air, however, you need a
  • TV antenna to pick up the signal
  • HD DVB-T MPEG-4 AVC set-top box (STB) to decode the HD signals and
  • HD-ready TV or integrated HDTV set, i.e DVB-T MPEG-4 AVC STB is built-in the HDTV set) to display HD5
Also, you can get Singtel's Mio TV plan and watch HD5 for free. I had my Mio TV trial the previous time. HD5 just worked better with clearer pictures and audio quality even on a normal non-hd tv set.(With Mio Set-top box connected by component video cables)Of course, it will work even better with a HD-enabled TV.

Just like Singtel's Mio TV, the Starhub cable TV includes HD5 too. Starhub started providing HD services just recently on 28th July just ready for the Olympic games. Sign up for Starhub cable TV and you will get HD5 right on your TV.

MediaCorp’s HD5 is provided free to all who owns an HD DVB-T MPEG-4 AVC digital receiver. No fee is required.
